Coronation Street’s Nina Lucas is urged to drop Corey campaign

Coronation Street’s Nina Lucas is given food for thought tonight (October 1) as Tim Metcalfe claims that it’s time for everyone to move on from their anger over Corey Brent.

Nina (Mollie Gallagher) is still understandably struggling after justice wasn’t served at the recent trial over the murder of her boyfriend Seb Franklin.

While Kelly Neelan (Millie Gibson) was sent down for the crime and has since received a life sentence, viewers know that Corey (Maximus Evans) was the real culprit and has escaped without punishment.

During Friday night’s double bill, news gets around the Street that Corey has been promoted to Weatherfield County’s first squad.

Most of Corey’s teammates are entirely ignorant of the new charges against him because his identity is still protected by the courts.

Nina, Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell), and Asha Alahan (Tanisha Gorey) all believe that the County players should be informed about Corey’s true identity.

Kevin tries to get James Bailey (Nathan Graham) to speak with the team manager about the problem, but James is unsuccessful.

Kevin and his pal Tim (Joe Duttine) then decide to approach the management on their own. Kevin is particularly invested in this operation because he believes Seb’s mother Abi will return home if she learns that Corey has been dismissed from the squad.

Unfortunately, when Tim and Kevin confront the manager outside the Weatherfield County stadium, he ignores them and claims that Corey was acquitted by a jury.

Later, Corey’s father Stefan (Paul Opacic) goes to the cobblestones and confronts Kevin, accusing him of attempting to ruin his son’s career.

Tim, seeing that things are going to get out of hand, advises Kevin to put the fight for justice on hold and concentrate on his family.

Tim then goes to Nina and tells her that Kevin is a damaged guy, and that they both need to back down for their own good. Will Nina be willing to give up the struggle now that Asha has agreed to it, despite the fact that there is still so much unresolved?
