Dan Ewing reveals the TRUTH about how much he was paid to appear on SAS Australia – and the reason why he keeps refers to himself in third person

He’s one of the most polarising contestants on SAS Australia this season.

Dan Ewing, 36, has spoken out about rumours that he was paid a lot of money for his controversial appearance.

On Tuesday, the Home And Away actor told Triple M’s Moonman In The Morning that his pay was greater than the $50-70K number reported in the media, but he wouldn’t say how much more.

‘To put it that way, I wouldn’t have done it for what was alleged,’ he added.

Dan cryptically answered, ‘It might be spot on,’ when asked if his salary was ‘greater or lower’ than that of co-star Koby Abberton, who received a staggering $100,000 from Channel Seven.

Dan also disclosed the truth about why he kept referring to himself in the third person when speaking with SAS Australia producers.

Lawrence Mooney, the show’s host, presented a clip from Dan’s introduction video package, in which the actor strangely refers to himself as ‘Dan Ewing.’

‘Hello, my name is Dan Ewing. When Dan Ewing is sleep deprived, what does he do? When Dan Ewing’s back is against the wall, what does he do?’ In the video, he says.

Dan responded with a laugh, saying, “I refuse to think your listeners believe it for a second,” before accusing the show’s producers for misrepresenting his comments.

‘[Producers] asked me a lot of questions about the fandom of Home And Away.’ ‘Of course, it altered my life and profession,’ he stated.

‘So, what would your fans think of you on the course?’ producers asked during filming. ‘I believe they recognise me as Heath Braxton… but it will be intriguing for them to watch what Dan Ewing does,’ I said.

Dan also said that the producers’ ‘villain’ cut was a’missed opportunity,’ as they could have instead focused on his mental health fight.

Dan feels that a mental health plotline would have inspired ‘blokes at the bar’ who watch the programme to open out about their own emotional issues.
