Home and Away Spoilers – Marilyn’s personality transplant shocks the bay

A change in Marilyn’s demeanor shocks her loved ones as she is brought out of her induced coma, which airs next week on Home and Away in the UK.

Last week, the chemical attack at the surf club caused more havoc when Marilyn Chambers (Emily Symons) was discovered collapsed on parkland near the diner by Mackenzie (Emily Weir), having been out all night after becoming partially paralyzed.

Marilyn’s symptoms were only diagnosed as a delayed reaction to the organophosphate exposure by Dr. Logan Bennett (Harley Bonner), who was obliged to put her into an induced coma when the paralysis spread to her lungs.

Logan is still stumped as to what caused Marilyn’s paralysis this week, despite the fact that all of the standard bacterial and viral testing came back negative. Logan runs out of alternatives and thinks that the only thing he can do is wake Marilyn up from her sedative and check if she can breathe on her own. Logan admits to Alf (Ray Meagher) that it’s a risk, but it’s one he’s willing to take.

Marilyn starts coughing as she fights the ventilator as she comes around, which Logan verifies is a positive sign!

With Marilyn awake and conversing normally, Logan conducts additional tests, only to discover that Marilyn still lacks sensation in her legs. Alf points out that it’s still early in the game, and that all it might take is a little patience.

Later that evening, Irene (Lynne McGranger) and John (Shane Withington) are delighted to learn that Marilyn has survived, and Marilyn, while happy to see Irene, asks John why he’s there. He’s taken aback as she goes on to add that they’re not friends and that whatever happens to her now is none of his business—they’re divorced, after all.

Irene, who is also perplexed, tries to explain that John has been by Marilyn’s side every day, but she refuses to believe it and wants John to go.

When Logan speaks to John and Irene outside, he inquires about Marilyn’s conversation—after all, John had informed Logan that he and Marilyn were good friends, which is why he was allowed to see her while she was comatose.

Irene agrees with John that they are typically on good terms, but she also points out that something isn’t quite right. “I have no idea what’s going on,” she says to Logan, “but that is NOT the Marilyn we know!”

As Logan returns to the room to run more tests, Marilyn’s coordination looks to be a little off, and she becomes unusually brusque with him, wondering why John was allowed to visit her in ICU.

She becomes even more irritated when she notices John is still outside her room, until Irene has to explain that they had shared a car to get to the hospital.

When Alf drops by to say goodbye to Marilyn before heading to the city to meet Martha, he verifies that John and Marilyn are generally cordial, which further adds to the doc’s confusion.

The next day, John and Irene approach Logan at the hospital and inform him that Marilyn is not in her room, something he is completely unaware of!

Back in Summer Bay, Ziggy (Sophie Dillman) and Dean (Patrick O’Connor) are taken aback to discover Marilyn (Sophie Dillman) striding towards them, seemingly unaffected by her paralysis.

As a high-spirited Marilyn invites Dean and Ziggy to join her for breakfast at Salt, both Dean and Ziggy are taken aback. They gently decline owing to Dean’s upcoming rehab appointment, but as they watch Marilyn stroll away like a lady on a mission, they both agree that something strange is going on.

Given that she was woken from her coma less than 24 hours prior, Mac can’t believe her eyes when she sees Marilyn waltz in without a care in the world.

As Mac heads into the storeroom to phone Logan and inform him of the situation, Marilyn declines the offer of a herbal tea and orders a Bloody Mary.

To Marilyn’s chagrin, Logan, Irene, and John rush to Salt. She accuses Mac of being a snitch, and she insists on refusing to return to the hospital.

Marilyn becomes increasingly irritated as Irene gently reminds her that she has been a vegetarian for many years later at the diner when she orders a burger.

Marilyn ditches her high heels and embraces a new look after devouring her burger, leaving her loved ones wondering if she’ll ever be the same…!
