Chloe (Sam Barrett) has been busy preparing Ryder’s (Lukas Radovich) surprise 21st birthday party, and she summons Nikau (Kawakawa Fox-Reo) and Bella (Courtney Miller) to lend a hand. When Bella learns that Chloe intends to take him partying, she tells him that this isn’t Ryder’s scene.
When Ryder walks into the Diner and sees Nikau, Bella, and Irene (Lynne McGranger) acting suspiciously, he suspects something is wrong. He is quickly sidetracked, however, when Chloe informs him that they have a full night of order preparation ahead of them for their Mexican takeout company.
Chloe realises she needs to get Ryder from the Diner to the club, but Theo (Matt Evans) comes up with a brilliant plan. He creeps up behind Ryder and stuffs a sack over his head before stuffing him into the back of his car as he’s out by the lake.
Ryder’s trauma from being kidnapped before comes back to haunt him, and when he is released from the car outside the club, he lashes out at Theo.
He turns around, however, to find Chloe, Nikau, and Bella waiting to surprise him on his birthday.
Ryder is shaken, embarrassed, and frustrated as he watches Chloe and Theo get closer, so he turns to alcohol and quickly becomes inebriated.
Nikau contacts Tane (Ethan Browne) to get him out of the club after witnessing his disruptive behaviour, but when his uncle comes, Ryder is busy talking to one of the bartenders, much to Chloe’s dismay…
