When Ryder (Lukas Radovich) and Theo (Matt Evans) don’t return home by the morning, Roo (Georgie Parker) and Justin (James Stewart) become concerned. They’re well aware that the two don’t get along, and when Justin checks their internet video channel, they’re shocked to discover the most recent upload — Theo burying Ryder underneath and Ryder sitting in a box underground before the feed turns out.
Roo and Justin swiftly make their way to the area, which isn’t far from the caravan park, and it isn’t long until they hear Theo pleading for aid. They discover him stranded at the bottom of a ravine, having spent the night there. He insists on finding Ryder first, claiming that he’s been underground all night and will have ran out of oxygen by now…
Roo and Justin dash in the direction where Theo instructs them to look for the hole. They dig frantically till they reach the coffin, then open the lid to find Ryder comatose inside. Both boys are brought to the hospital, and Theo is shocked to discover Ryder in the emergency room with medical personnel surrounding him.
Alf (Ray Meagher) reappears after spending time with Martha (Belinda Giblin) and is enraged by Theo. The young man apologises profusely, but Roo informs him that apologising won’t cut it, and Alf advises him to stay away from Ryder for the time being. Justin, on the other hand, defends Theo, claiming that Ryder was not forced to participate in the challenge and chose to do so on his own.
When Ryder regains consciousness a short while later, Theo rushes to Ryder’s bedside, relieved that his friend is still alive.
After Theo explains that he didn’t plan to forsake him, the two put their disagreements aside, but Alf is enraged when he finds Theo standing next to Ryder. Will Alf be able to let go of his hatred for Theo, or is this only the start?
