Home and Away star Nicholas Cartwright hints at secrets from Cash’s past

Cash Newman, the peaceful constable from Home and Away, may appear to be a model citizen, but actor Nicholas Cartwright has indicated that there’s more to the quiet cop than meets the eye.

Cash has fit in well in Summer Bay and formed a romantic relationship with Jasmine Delaney (Sam Frost), but Nicholas hinted Inside Soap that there are “skeletons” in his character’s closet just waiting to be discovered.

“He’s not the calm, collected individual he appears to be…” Nicholas disclosed, albeit he didn’t go into specifics on what Cash could be concealing.

The actor did, however, express his feelings on Cash’s relationship with Jasmine, claiming that the two are “built for each other.”

“It’s just a really nice love storey,” he explained, “which is quite rare in soap.” “They’re getting better and better, and I’m looking forward to seeing where the authors take it next. I have a great working connection with Sammy, and we’re both excited to see how their relationship develops.”

Felicity Newman, Cash’s sister, is another significant figure in his life (Jacqui Purvis). Despite the fact that feisty Felicity has caused Cash a great deal of grief, the siblings clearly share a particular affinity, which Nicholas claims is a representation of real life.

“That was a lot of fun to film! As performers, Jacqui Purvis and I already have a terrific relationship “he stated “In real life, I have a younger sister with whom I have a jovial connection, so that’s how it goes. Cash’s only person in the Bay with whom he can be himself is Felicity.”

Nicholas also promised further details about the forthcoming UK 2021 finale episode, which will see Tane Parata (Ethan Browne) poisoned by his mysterious stalker, as well as the guests at Martha Stewart’s mental health event.

“What occurs in this week’s cliffhanger spirals into a much greater event,” he hinted, before adding, “There are major repercussions for Cash!”
