Home and Away star’s Clarice finally confirms UK channel and air date

Clarice, the next drama series from Rebecca Breeds of Home and Away, has finally found a UK broadcaster.

The programme was bought by UKTV today (November 4) for prominent crime drama channel Alibi, and the 13-part series will premiere in December.

Clarice is based on Thomas Harris’ novel The Silence of the Lambs, which was adapted into a film starring Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins in 1988.

The titular heroine is played by Rebecca Breeds, who is most known for her roles in Pretty Little Liars and Home and Away as Ruby Buckton.

She co-stars with Michael Cudlitz from The Walking Dead, Kal Penn from Designated Survivor, Nick Sandow from Orange is the New Black, Lucca De Oliveira from Animal Kingdom, Devyn A Tyler from Watchman, and Marnee Carpenter from Criminal Minds.

According to the official synopsis: “Clarice is a deep dive into FBI Agent Clarice Starling’s (Breeds) untold personal narrative as she returns to the field in 1993, one year after the events of The Silence of the Lambs.

“Clarice’s daring, both brilliant and fragile, gives her an inner light that attracts monsters and lunatics.

“However, her complicated psychological makeup allows her to begin to discover her voice while working in a man’s environment, as well as to escape the familial mysteries that have plagued her her whole life.”

The charismatic cannibal Hannibal Lecter, who aided the titular FBI agent as she hunted another serial killer, will not be mentioned by name due to rights issues with Thomas Harris’ book characters.

However, the teaser for the series was released in February, and it appears that the series will incorporate several major parts from the original, such as the iconic opening speech: “The lambs were wailing… I was unable to save the lamb. But I will never give up.”

Clarice will premiere on Alibi in the UK in December.
