Isla Fisher teases a Home and Away return two decades after leaving Summer Bay: “Obviously it would be fun”

Isla Fisher, Australian acting royalty, has weighed in on a possible Home and Away revival, more than 20 years after leaving the serial that launched her career.

Isla, who portrayed Shannon Reed on the show from 1994 to 1997, has since gone on to feature in Hollywood blockbusters such as Confessions of a Shopaholic and Wedding Crashers, but she hasn’t completely ruled out a return to Summer Bay.

When questioned about a possible cameo appearance, she told Yahoo, “Of course I’ve thought about it!”

“I thought to myself, ‘Wouldn’t it be hilarious?’ However, the fact is that you must provide plenty of warning, then it must be written down, and finally you must commit.

“But, obviously, it would be wonderful at some time to just go past with a surfboard or anything.”

In 1996, Isla told The Sun-Herald that she enjoyed working on Home and Away, despite the “hard workload.”

Isla has gone from strength to strength since leaving the serial, starring in The Great Gatsby and other major films such as Scooby-Doo.

Despite her worldwide fame, the attractive redhead told The Observer in London that “Home and Away taught me how to look nice in a bikini” and “how to deliver awful language effectively.”

The 45-year-old, who is married to comedian Sacha Baron Cohen, also discussed her current project, Back to the Outback, an Australian film.

A ragtag group of Australia’s deadliest creatures plot a daring escape from their zoo to the Outback in this animated film.

After years of imitating an American accent for work, Isla said it felt good to speak in her own voice.

“It was so much fun because I could just let my freak flag fly in a manner that I hadn’t been able to for years,” she added.

“Vocally, I just wanted to give her voice a little more depth and growth as she matured and gained leadership qualities. I didn’t have to put on a ridiculous accent like I used to.”
