Neighbours and Home and Away Christmas break dates confirmed

Fans of Neighbours will have to endure their first Christmas without the Ramsay Street residents since 2018, as both Home and Away and Neighbours will be taking breaks in the United Kingdom and Australia.

Season finale of Home and Away

In both the UK and Australia, Home and Away takes an annual vacation in November or December.

The Australian season finale will air on November 25th this year. Summer Bay fans in Australia will be treated to a whopping eight episodes in the last week, with triple bills showing on Wednesday and Thursday, November 24th and 25th, respectively.

The final episodes in Australia will feature Ryder (Lukas Radovich) being buried alive after a stunt goes horribly wrong, Ari (Rob Kipa-Williams) proposing to Mia (Anna Samson), Chloe (Sam Barrett), and newcomer Matthew, as well as a dramatic showdown between Mia (Anna Samson), Chloe (Sam Barrett), and newcomer Matthew (James Sweeny).

The last episode of the year will run in the United Kingdom on Monday, November 22nd, in a dramatic cliffhanger in which a stranger targets Tane (Ethan Browne), with ramifications for a slew of Summer Bay favourites.

As Channel 5 switches things about to make room for afternoon Christmas films, the penultimate programme scheduled is the afternoon showing, which will run at a later time of 12:30pm.

While the show’s evening showing was just moved from Channel 5 to 5STAR due to scheduling changes, there is no 6pm rerun scheduled for 5STAR on Monday, November 22nd. As a result, fans who want to see the last episode in the evening will have to rely on 5STAR’s ‘first peek’ on Friday, November 19th at 6:30 p.m.

After a six-week hiatus, the programme will return to the UK on Monday, January 3rd, 2022, while the Australian return date has yet to be revealed.

Date of the season finale of Neighbours

Unlike previous years, the Melbourne-based sitcom will take a three-week hiatus in December, leaving fans with a massive cliffhanger. For Australian viewers, this will be the first time since 2017 that the show will be off the air over the Christmas season.

The season finale of 2021 will air in Australia on Thursday, December 9th, and in the United Kingdom on Friday, December 10th.

The last UK episodes on Channel 5 will air at 1pm and 6pm, while the afternoon showing of Neighbours has been temporarily moved to 1pm as of Monday, November 22nd.

The hiatus implies that when the series resumes on Monday, January 3rd, 2022, new episodes will be available in both nations on the same day.

This will eliminate a transmission gap that occurred in 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 epidemic, when the UK restricted the amount of episodes broadcast while Australia maintained its regular schedule.

To allow the two nations to realign, 10 Peach recently reduced the number of episodes shown every week to four instead of the regular five. The distance between the two nations has been narrowing in recent weeks, and it will eventually close at the start of 2022.

In 2018, Neighbours became an all-year-round soap, broadcasting in both 2018 and 2019 without a Christmas break. Last December, the programme went on hiatus in the United Kingdom while continuing to air in Australia, widening the divide between the two nations.
