On Home and Away, her character Roo Stewart has a bad luck with love, but Georgie Parker’s real-life relationship is a far greater success storey.
Since 1999, the actress has been married to screenwriter Steve Worland, for a total of 22 years.
When Georgie reflected on their initial meeting, she told The Australian Women’s Weekly what impressed her the most about Steve.
“I believed he is a person I could trust on when I first met him,” she stated in the 2018 interview.
“At the time, it was really important to me, and he was the type of person that, if he said he was going to do something, he did it.”
She said, ” “He had a profound warmth about him, and I felt like I could talk to him for the rest of my life. He’s both amusing and astute.”
Georgie further stated that the two are “totally different” in almost every regard, and that while he is mostly a “introvert,” he can be “far more lively” than she is.
“We balance each other out,” she stated, adding that she and Steve are dating.
They would rather stay at home with their 21-year-old daughter Holly and their cat.
“My family brings me the most delight — all of the time.”
Georgie talked about parenthood and how she waited until she found her right match before conceiving a family in a 2019 interview with Good Health.
“I’ve always wanted to be a mother,” she said to the tabloid.
“All I had to do was wait till I met the right person! I continued meeting individuals I didn’t want to have children with, until I met my husband at the age of 33.”
“It simply happened to work out,” she added.
Georgie also revealed the key to her long-term marriage with Steve, including how they avoid confrontation.
“We’ve never been connected at the hip, that’s simply not how we work,” the 56-year-old explained.
“I think doing a lot of things independently is quite beneficial; we each have our own hobbies, and I think that really helps,” she continued.
“We do things on our own, but we also do things as a family and as a couple.”
The actress is well-known for keeping her personal life private, refusing to post photos of her spouse or kid on social media.
In a 2017 interview with Stellar Magazine, Georgie stated that keeping her family out of the spotlight was a “deliberate choice” on her side.
She stated, “I don’t talk about my family at all.” “I believe it is my career, not theirs!”
“As a result, I would never put [Holly] in the spotlight. She may begin her own life and be recognised for herself, rather than her mother.”
