Alan Fletcher, star of the Australian series Neighbours, has confirmed that he will perform a one-man show in Newcastle once the programme wraps in the summer.

The news was verified by a tweet from the soap’s official Twitter account, which read: “We regret to inform you that after over 37 years and approximately 9,000 episodes, we must confirm that Neighbours will end production in June.

“We have no choice but to put the show on hold following the loss of our important broadcast partner in the UK, despite a thorough hunt for alternative funding. This is a great disappointment for our amazing, dedicated fans, as well as for all of us on the team.”

The confirmation that Jason Donovan and Kylie Minogue, as well as other previous Ramsey Street favourites like Daniel McPherson (Joel), Ian Smith (Harold), and Melissa Bell, will return has brought some good news to Neighbours fans in recent weeks (Lucy).

And soon the cameras on Neighbours stop rolling, he’ll be heading to the other side of the world for his The Doctor Will See You UK tour, which will feature a date at Northern Stage on September 7. On Friday, May 13, tickets will go on sale.

“I am pleased to say that after two years of Covid cancellations, my show – The Doctor Will See You Now is finally heading out on the road in the UK this September!” Alan posted on Twitter.

The Doctor Will See You Now teaser promises songs and stories from the Neighbours icon “Alan has devised a stage presentation in the style of ‘In Conversation’ that examines his 28 years on Neighbours. Expect him to be interrogated about all of Dr. Karl’s major life events.

“This evening has wonderful archival Neighbours video footage, music, and talk, as well as the chance to meet Alan after the show.”
