Neighbours to bring back Shane Ramsay ahead of show’s final episodes

For the last episodes of Neighbours this summer, another familiar character is expected to return.

Following Channel 5’s decision to cancel the show last month, it was reported earlier today (March 3) that the Australian serial will be ending after 37 years on broadcast due to a lack of financing.

We already know that Harold Bishop (Ian Smith) will return to Ramsay Street, as confirmed by Alan Fletcher, who also teased the return of other former characters ahead of the last episode in August.

Shane Ramsay (Peter O’Brien), who made his debut in the soap’s inaugural episode in 1985 before quitting two years later, is also set to return, according to The Sun.

Shane Ramsay, the son of Max and Maria Ramsay and the nephew of Madge Bishop, was embroiled in a variety of dramatic stories during his brief time on the show, including many vehicle accidents and being accused of manslaughter.

It follows Fletcher’s recent comments on reunions: “I am aware that the brilliant Harold Bishop will be returning to Ramsay Street near the end of the programme.

“Someone from Karl’s shady past will undoubtedly reappearance, and there are a slew of other names in the mix.

“I can guarantee you that the producers are working really hard to lure some of Neighbours’ most beloved characters to at least make cameo appearances.”

Former star Jason Donovan has hinted that his character Scott Robinson and Charlene (Kylie Minogue) could make an appearance.
