Generations of viewers have followed the adventures of the residents of Ramsey Street in Australian soap opera Neighbours for decades.
The day-to-day lives of Australians captured us every day at teatime, with characters like Mrs Mangel, Charlene, Harold, and Madge becoming well-known in the UK and around the world.
It is now broadcast twice daily, however the show will be cancelled soon when Channel 5 withdrew its sponsorship.
“We are so sorry to say that after over 37 years and approximately 9000 episodes broadcast, we have to confirm that Neighbours will cease production in June,” programme creators stated in a statement.
“We simply have no choice but to put the show on hold following the loss of our important broadcast partner in the UK, despite a thorough hunt for alternative funding.”
