Who died in Neighbours? Shocking start to 2022 sees cast favourites killed off

Neighbours, the Australian soap opera on Channel 5, is ramping up the drama and shock factor as character fatalities on Ramsay Street begin in 2022.

The soap has had its first emotional send-offs since it returned on 3 January with a new character, Amy Greenwood’s daughter Zara Selwyn (Freya Van Dyke), and fresh subplots.

As the first month of the new season continues in the aftermath of Terese Willis’ near-death experience before Christmas, natural disasters rip through what should be pleasant events for a dramatic wedding, and nothing is held back.

Every weekday at 1.45pm and 6pm on Channel 5, the half-hour drama may be seen on My5 online.

In Neighbours, who dies?

The storm that blasted through Roxy Willis’ (Zima Anderson) and Kyle Canning’s (Chris Milligan) wedding killed Britney Barnes, played by Montana Cox.

The joyous wedding ended in shambles, injuring Paul Robinson (Stefan Dennis) and killing Britney in the process.

Following this tragedy, Leo Tanaka (Tim Kano) will struggle to cope with his loss and, as a result, will find it difficult to be around others and will begin to lock himself off. Leo is also anticipated to vent his rage on the hotel that hosted the wedding, with the intention of suing them for what occurred despite being ordered not to.

In Neighbours, what will happen to newcomer Zara?

Zara’s arrival on Ramsay Street earlier this year has already strained Amy Greenwood’s friendships with Ned Willis (Ben Hall) and Levi Canning (Richie Morris).

Zara Selwyn is set to start at Erinsborough High School, but her anti-social behaviour may persist. Zara is about to push her mother Amy in an upcoming scene as a result of a violent argument.

When Zara gives her mother the cold shoulder and Amy suffers from the pain of the push, she is left unable to breathe until Ned locates her and rushes her to the hospital.

Where does Neighbours take place?

Since the beginning of the series in 1985, the Australian soap has been filmed in Pin Oak Court, Vermount South.

The cul-de-sac known as ‘Ramsay Street’ in Australia has grown popular with tourists and fans of the show, although the imaginary area in which Neighbours is based remains fictional (Erinsborough).

All of the houses depicted in the show, however, are real, and the residents of the properties have agreed to let the cast and crew of Neighbours film in their front and back gardens. Interior scenes are being shot at the Global Television studios in Forest Hill in the meanwhile.

Official tours of the studios and external sets, including the set bars and cafes, are available to fans.
